How to find old Rightmove listings

By Oliver Benns · Updated 5 November 2026

The short answer

Rightmove keeps no archive of old listings: once a home is sold or withdrawn, its listing comes out of the search results, and there is nowhere on the site to browse what has gone. What survives is uneven. For a home that sold, Rightmove's House Prices pages keep the photos and floor plan from its last listing beside the price it sold for. For the asking prices a home was listed at, and how long it was on the market, you need a tool that recorded the listing while it was live, which is what the free Property Track extension does.

Why old Rightmove listings disappear

A Rightmove listing is an advert for a home that is for sale or to rent now. When the sale completes, the home is let, or the seller takes it off the market, the agent takes the listing down and it drops out of Rightmove's search results. Nothing on the site lists what has been removed.

Even while a listing is live, its past is thin. The page shows an “Added on” date, which becomes “Reduced on” with the date of the latest price cut, and that is all. If an agent takes a home off and puts it back as a new listing, the “Added on” date starts again and the “Reduced” label goes, so a home that has been for sale for a year can look as if it came to market last week. Our guide on how to see price history on Rightmove covers what a live listing hides.

Does Rightmove have an archive of historic listings?

Not a public one. There is no search for archived or historic listings on Rightmove, and a listing that has come down cannot be found by searching the area again. Rightmove's customer help pages say that what historic information it can give depends on your relationship to the property, and ask you to email its customer support with the full address, so a buyer asking about a home they do not own should not expect much back.

What Rightmove keeps for homes that sold

The one place old listing material survives on Rightmove is its House Prices section, which shows what homes sold for, using HM Land Registry's data in England and Wales and Registers of Scotland's in Scotland. Each sold home there shows its sale history, with the photos and floor plans from the last time it was listed. That is often what someone looking for an old listing wants: the pictures of a home before it was done up, or its layout before an extension.

Two things are missing from it. A home that was withdrawn without selling is not there at all, since there is no sale to hang it on. And a sold home's record carries the price it sold for, not the asking prices it was listed at along the way, so you cannot see whether it sold above or below what the seller first asked. The sold price itself is public record: HM Land Registry's sold property prices search on GOV.UK lists every registered sale at an address since 1995, and our guide to sold prices on Rightmove covers what that record leaves out.

How to see what a home was listed at before

Asking prices are never kept by Rightmove, so the only way to see them is through a tool that recorded the listing while it was live. Property Track has been recording the asking prices in Rightmove's search results since October 2023, for sale and to rent, across the UK, and it keeps every listing's history: the price it was first listed at and each change since, with its date.

  1. Install Property Track for Chrome, Firefox or Edge. It's free, with no account and no limits.
  2. Open any live listing on Rightmove. The full asking-price history appears on the page, and the same history sits under each card in the search results.
  3. Save the homes you are following. The same history shows under each card on your saved properties page, and it stays as it was recorded after a listing comes down, so a home you saved and lost track of still shows what it was asking and when.

Property Track keeps prices and dates rather than photos or descriptions, and it keeps them per listing. A home that comes back to market as a brand-new listing, often under a different agent, starts a new history, so if a fresh listing looks familiar, that is the moment to ask the agent how long the home has really been for sale.

What an old listing tells you

Most people looking for an old listing are weighing up a live one. A home that was on the market last year at a higher price and did not sell tells you the market has already rejected that price. A home that sold three years ago for less than it is asking now tells you what the owner paid, and so how much room they have. Both are evidence for an offer, and both are hidden on the listing itself. Our guide on how to check if an asking price is fair puts them beside what similar homes nearby are asking and what they sold for.

Frequently asked questions

Does Rightmove have an archive of old listings?
Not one you can search. Once a home is sold or withdrawn its listing comes out of Rightmove's search results, and there is no page for browsing listings that have gone. Rightmove's customer help pages say that what historic information it can give depends on your relationship to the property, and ask you to email its customer support with the full address.
Can I see the old photos of a house on Rightmove?
For a home that went on to sell, yes. Rightmove's House Prices pages show each sold home's sale history with the photos and floor plans from the last time it was listed. For a home that was withdrawn without selling, Rightmove keeps nothing you can see.
Can I see what a house was listed for before it sold?
Not on Rightmove, which shows the price it sold for but not the asking prices it was listed at. Property Track records the asking price of every Rightmove listing while it is live, from the day it first appears in search results, and shows the history on the listing, under search results and under each card on your saved properties, where it stays as recorded after the listing comes down.
Can I see old rental listings on Rightmove?
No. A rental comes off Rightmove when it is let, like a sale when it is sold, and the sold-price record covers sales only. Property Track records rents as well as sale prices, so a home to rent shows every change to its monthly rent while the listing is live.
Does Property Track show listings that are no longer on Rightmove?
It is not a search for old listings. Property Track keeps the price history of every listing it has recorded since October 2023 and shows it wherever Rightmove still shows the listing: on the listing page, under search results and under the cards on your saved properties and lists.
Why does a relisted home have no history?
Because Rightmove gives a relisted home a new listing with a new 'Added on' date, often under a different agent, and Property Track keeps its history per listing, so the new listing starts a new history. If a fresh listing looks familiar, ask the agent how long the home has been for sale.
